Wienerschnitzel is born in 1961. In 1906, syndicated Hearst newspaper cartoonist Tad Dorgan coins the term hot dog after he is unable to spell Dachshund. In 1913 Coney Island Chamber of Commerce bans the term hot dog because of the fear that people would think they were actually made from dogs. In 1939 President Franklin D. Roosevelt serves hot dogs and beer to King George VI of England. In 1957 The U.S. Chamber of Commerce designates the month of July as National Hot Dog Month. Queen Elizabeth II serves hot dogs at a royal banquet held for the American Bar Association. In 1961 Wienerschnitzel was started with the opening of a single hot dog fast food stand in Wilmington, California. Today, they are the World's Largest Hot Dog fast food franchise Chain with over 325 fast food franchise restaurants in ten states and Guam selling over 80 million hot dogs per year. In 1995 approximately 17 billion hot dogs were consumed in the United States, about 75 for every man, woman, and child.

FULL FRANCHISING
A Wienerschnitzel franchise offers the opportunity to be part of the World’s largest hot dog chain. With over 45 years of proven success, Wienerschnitzel’s line of hot dogs, including its famous chili dogs, provide a unique and competitive position in the fast food marketplace.
Wienerschnitzel utilizes a combination of national, regional and local advertising programs, including an Advertising Co-op in most areas of the West. Additionally, Wienerschnitzel has a very effective purchasing and distribution program that provides quality products at extremely competitive prices to its franchise community through a network of approved suppliers and distributors.
The initial 20 year franchise fee is $32,000, royalty is 5% of sales, and the minimum advertising commitment is 4% of sales. (The franchise fee for subsequent units is $20,000 per store)
The franchisee, or a designated General Manager, must complete a six-week training program. Additional and ongoing training and support are provided as well.
Franchisees may choose from three building designs with land-size requirements from approximately 17,500 square feet to 22,000 square feet. Building and equipment packages range from approximately $350,000 to $1,000,000. GGI will provide a list of banks and commercial lenders that work with Wienerschnitzel franchisees. (GGI does not provide financing for franchisee development)
SUPPORT
Wienerschnitzel will provide you with support throughout the restaurant development process. This support includes assisting you with: references to banks for Small Business Administration and conventional financing, site approval, equipment suppliers, references to computer and sign vendors, prototype drawings, and conversion design and cost estimates. As an incoming franchisee, you will be provided with a comprehensive six-week training program for you and/or your management, for a nominal fee. They also offer an in-house operations team to assist you when you open your restaurant.

Ongoing support consists of providing you with a Franchise Area Director, marketing materials, and an established distribution system with national purveyors. You will also have the opportunity of getting together with GGI for the semiannual National Operators Seminar, as well as for various regional meetings.
